Stations and Slipways Appeal

It's time to build new lifeboat stations fit for our courageous volunteer crews.

  • Continuing improvements in lifeboat technology sometimes mean that a new design of boat can't fit into an old station.
  • The sea constantly eats away at any structure built in or near it.
  • Sometimes a station that was fit for its purpose when it was first built, decades ago, simply no longer meets the needs of a modern service.

For these and other reasons, we now need to improve – and in some cases rebuild – many of the stations around our coasts. We have a daunting amount of money to find in order to complete work on dozens of stations. Some of these sites present major access problems, and building work is always at the mercy of the weather.

The planned works will take at least 5 years, and the sooner we can begin the better.
