Newquay Crew
The crew
Because of operational requirements there is currently a crew of twenty-nine. Amongst these are builders, fishermen, Royal Navy servicemen, fire-fighters, paramedics, a police officer, merchant seaman, extreme sports retailer, boat builder, electrician, telecoms engineer and a restaurant manager. Many are from families who have crewed lifeboats for generations.
Senior Helmsman
There are three senior helmsmen at Newquay; Martin Gilbert (pictured), a fisherman, joined the crew in 1984; Edwin Burt, a fire-fighter, joined in 1985; Kevin Gee, a fisherman, joined in 1990.
